A Letter from Brian (scroll down for event information!)

Dear Friends,

You may have heard me talk about how much joy the work I get to do with Wildflower brings me. The real source of this joy is the people I get to interact with in the course of the work: The families we get to serve in tender, vulnerable moments; the amazing team I get to work with every day; and the community of beautiful folks growing up around this little funeral home that is becoming so much more than a funeral home.

Everything we do at Wildflower is intended to gently, lovingly engage our humanity. Whether you're attending a First Friday concert for the very first time, joining us around the table for meaningful conversation, finding support after a loss, sitting down with us to get your final wishes planned, or simply stopping by to say hello, you are helping create the kind of community I dreamed about long before Wildflower ever opened its doors.

Over the past few months, I have been delighted to welcome so many new faces to our gatherings. Seeing longtime friends sitting beside first-time visitors, sharing stories, laughter, good tears, music, and rich conversation reinforces the importance of a unique place like Wildflower. It's not just a funeral home. Wildflower is a place where people gather, connect, and experience the fullness of being human, through joy as much as through grief.

Thank you for sharing your songs, your stories, your kindness, your curiosity, and your trust with us. Every event, every conversation, and every new friendship adds another thread to the beautiful tapestry of this community. I am continually humbled by the generosity of spirit I witness here.

August brings another wonderful month of opportunities to gather, and I hope you'll join us. We'll begin with another evening of music and storytelling at First Friday with Swil Kanim, celebrate community at Downtown Distilled, and continue our monthly Death: Conversations Around the Table and Bereavement Loss Support Group. Whether you've been coming since the beginning or have yet to attend your first event, there's always a place for you here.

And before you know it, September will arrive with another First Friday, featuring Swil Kanim and special guest Char Seawell. We can't wait to share that evening with you.

Wildflower is excited to participate in this event for the second year in a row. This fun-filled jaunt is organized by our friends at The Ferndale Downtown Association. Local businesses are paired with an incredible selection of craft beverages from local wineries, distilleries, and breweries. Along the way, participants discover charming local shops, delicious eateries, and live music that will make the experience even more enjoyable.

This year we are thrilled to welcome Bellewood Farm & Distillery to Wildflower as they pour their local, craft spirits. We will also be joined by Ferndale's new bakery, Main Street Bread who will be handing out samples of their delicious fresh baked goods.

Bereavement Loss Support Group
