A FEBRUARY NOTE FROM BRIAN

![]() Our February newsletter and calendar of events - from Brian Flowers, Owner & Funeral Director, Wildflower Funeral Concepts. Dear Friends,
Last night I spent some time outside under the full moon, and I heard frogs. Frogs!?! This time of year? As January turned into February? It wasn't full frog song, and it didn't last long, but it was there like a little harbinger of Spring.
February is the shortest month on the calendar, but it can feel indeterminately long. It’s often the dreariest stretch of winter, especially here in the Pacific Northwest. Yet the days grow steadily longer. February carries the quiet promise that the light is returning. Spring is on its way, even if we can’t quite see it yet. Its name comes from februa: an ancient Latin word for cleansing, purification, and renewal. February is a good time to pause, reflect, and prepare for what’s next, the cyclical return of new life. For me, this month is inviting an internal spring cleaning, quiet renewal and vibrant connection.
Wildflower, and our work here, keeps me rooted in cycles: the turn of the seasons, the interchange of life and death, and the rhythms of emotion. I am learning to see that much of the work we do comes down to honoring the passage of time as we support folks moving through their unique cycles. This is teaching me to fill the time passing through my fingers with love and community.
At Wildflower we get to make community, love, and shared humanity concrete and tangible. They are lived experiences, shaped through service, conversation, stories, music, creativity, and simply being together.
I hope you’ll join us this month for one (or more) of the events below. Each offering is an invitation to slow down, listen, reflect, reconnect and renew. You can scroll down to explore what’s coming up, or visit our events page for full details.
Thank you for being part of the Wildflower community.
