A Letter from Brian |
Dear friends, The Pacific Northwest really shows off in May!The new green leaves catching the Spring sunshine as they wave in the breeze. The aromas of life everywhere. I can’t get enough lilacs in my nose right now. And flowers, flowers, flowers. Of course, around here, we are partial to wildflowers. My favorite native wildflower is the Trillium. Trilliums are slow growing and sensitive to any disturbance in their habitat. If they get disturbed, it will take them seven to nine years to reestablish. Yet, if you venture deep into the woods, they can thrive in abundance. They are simple, somehow dignified, beautiful, and a true PNW native. I love it when they start to turn from pure white to pink and purple. Here is a picture of one I spotted on a recent hike. As the season changes around us, we continue to feel deeply grateful for this growing community that surrounds Wildflower. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of walking alongside you during some of life’s most tender and difficult moments. It is an honor we never take lightly. We will always provide a space rooted in compassion, presence, beauty, and meaningful remembrance. At the same time, we are equally grateful for the joy, curiosity, music, stories, laughter, and connection that continue to fill our gathering space. Whether through concerts, workshops, storytelling evenings, educational events, or quiet conversations around the table, we believe there is something profoundly healing about creating community together. A funeral home may seem like an unusual place for these things, but to us, it feels deeply connected. To honor grief well, we must also honor life well. As we move into Spring and Summer, we have several wonderful events and opportunities coming up that we’d love to share with you. Whether you’re interested in end-of-life planning, grief support, music, storytelling, or simply gathering with thoughtful and compassionate people, we hope you’ll join us. You’ll also find a link below to a recent radio interview I had the pleasure of participating in on The Aging Hour, where we explored everything from funeral planning myths to honoring final wishes in meaningful ways. Thank you, again, for being part of this journey. It truly means more than I can put into words. I hope to see you soon.
